Lipstick vs Lipgloss

The debate is on! Should I wear lipstick or should I wear lip gloss? Is one more appropriate for me than the other? how do I know if I the shade I picked out is the right one for me? So many questions when it comes down to creating our look for the day. Lipstick or lipgloss is usually the last piece of make up applied. Which is the right look for us? Lets take look at what the experts say.

When analyzing what is right for you it is important to realize that there are several types of lipsticks. Cream lipsticks that are not sticks at all are usually messy to apply. Great for providing moisture to your lips, however not convenient for the on the go gal. Usually creams require a small brush to apply and most of us do not have that much time during the day to reapply.

The Stick

Lip-Stick. is the most common form of lipstick. It is usually rich in color. Some added benefits about the stick is that Lipsticks can be enriched in vitamins as well as sunscreens. Also lipsticks nowadays can be enhanced with pigments that are longer lasting.

Lip Glosses

Lip glosses are popular because there are not very many chemicals in them. They do not look as heavy on the face, as they contain only a hint of color as their lipstick counterparts. There are three types of Lip gloss. Gel, Cream and stick gloss. The Gel Gloss comes in a little pot and is applied with your fingertip. This can be messy, especially if the lid to the little pot comes off in your purse. ( I have had this happen a time or two). The Cream glosses come in a tube and is less transparent than the gel gloss. The cream glosses can be enriched with extra vitamins. Stick glosses come in a tube much likelipsticks. It is the easiest to apply in a hurry and contains more pigment than the other two types of lip glosses. it will not be good on moisture as it mostly concentrates on lip color.

How to find the right shade of Lipcolor

Finding the right shade of lipcolor is a tricky buisness. You have to know what looks go on you!. One fashion expert states to find a lipstick that looks good on you try it on without any make up at all. This will enhance your natural beauty. Another tip to finding the perfect shade is to find teh shade that is two shades darker than your your natural lip color. Experts suggest trying on the color on one lip and comparing it to your natural colr. if it is two shade darker than you have found it!

Wearing Red Lipstick

Yep i am one of them . On of those gals who believes she cannot possibly wear red lipstick No Way!! The key they say is to match the shade of red to the undertones of your skin. If you have a pink undertone then a cherry red may be good for you. If red is to much then apply a lip balm first before applying your pigment. This helps give your lips a sheen of red with out too much pigment. There is a word of caution about matching your red lips to your red outfit. This is a fashion blunder.

A more complicated way of picking out the right color is to try to match your skin tone. The following is recommended by the experts:

Fair skinned ladies should wear light lip colors such as pinks, apricots and even light nudes.

Medium skinned gals should chose a berry color, light burgandy or rose or mauve.

Dark skinned ladies can look good in the browns, plum and wine colors.
